2010/11 Storybook and Parenting Creative Drawing Competition for Kindergarten Kids

To educate children the money management skills and help them develop proper attitudes on financial management, the MPFA developed two storybooks for the kindergarten kids in the past two years. The storybooks were well received by the principals, teachers and parents. This year, the MPFA has launched another new storybook to disseminate the proper attitudes towards saving, spending and donation. The storybook also comprised parenting games to encourage the kids to put the knowledge acquired into actions with the guidance of their parents and teachers.
 
The storybook, which also incorporated MPF messages for parents and teachers, was distributed to about 90,000 kindergarten kids, which accounted for more than half of the kindergarten kids population.
 
Moreover, the MPFA has organized a Parenting Drawing Competition in partnership with Sing Tao Magazine Group, with the Education Bureau as the supporting organization. Kindergarten kids and their parents were invited to join hands to depict their desirable future life in form of creative drawing. Parents were also invited to submit their ideas and sharings on making appropriate plans for future. The Competition was held in September 2010 and over 4,600 entries were received from 118 kindergartens. The winning families were invited to the Fun Event comprising parenting games on financial education and seminars for parents and the prize presentation ceremony on 30 October 2010. Prizes were awarded to winners of the Competition as well as the most supportive school which submitted the most entries.
