2013/14 Parenting Workshops for Kindergarten Kids and their Parents

The MPFA continues to join hands with the Po Leung Kuk, and with the support of the Education Bureau to organize a series of parenting workshops on money management for kindergarten kids and their parents.  It aims at encouraging kindergarten kids to form a good habit of saving for the future and equip their parents with practical skills of coaching their children on proper attitude towards money management, as well as further educate parents, who are also MPF scheme members, to get more familiar with the MPF System and MPF investment.

Kindergarten kids and their parents would join separate sessions, through which children would be exposed to different simulated scenes related to money management, including working, spending, saving and offering, while parents would learn basic concepts of family budgeting and retirement planning including MPF knowledge through interactive session on case studies. The parents would then accompany their children to accomplish a shopping task, in which the children have to make decisions on their own. The workshop would be wrapped up in a debriefing session by social workers.
