All calculations in this programme are based on the following assumption:

  • Employer and employee each contribute 5% of staff's income;
  • Amount of mandatory contributions are subject to the minimum and maximum levels of income which are $6,500 and $20,000* per month;
  • Voluntary contribution is not included;
  • 13th month pay, bonus or other allowances are not included;
  • The effects of salary increase and inflation are ignored; and
  • Fees and charges have not been deducted

The Legislative Council has passed the amendment of the maximum level of relevant income for MPF mandatory contributions, effective 1 June 2012. For monthly-paid regular employees, the maximum level of relevant income has been amended from $20,000 to $25,000 monthly. The maximum contributions will be adjusted from $1,000 to $1,250 monthly accordingly.
