The MPFA held lecture on the “Two Sessions” for the third consecutive year on 17 March. Mr Leung Chun ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended for the second year to share the key content from this year’s “Two Sessions” and the National 15th Five Year Plan. The lecture aimed to deepen understanding of national policies and future development among MPFA and eMPF Company colleagues, thereby facilitating better integration into the overall national development. 

MPFA and eMPF Company Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau, members of the MPFA Management Board and eMPF Company Board of Directors, members of the MPF Schemes Advisory Committee, MPFA Managing Director Mr Cheng Yan-chee and other executives, together with more than 600 staff members attended the lecture in person or virtually.

Mr Leung said, “Inaugurated from this year, the National 15th Five-Year Plan sets out the country’s strategic planning and key priorities, while providing clear support for Hong Kong to consolidate and enhance its competitive strengths and to better integrate into and contribute to the country’s overall development under the “One Country, Two Systems” principle. The successful implementation of two systems within one country is itself a distinctive institutional advantage. The MPFA should proactively leverage Hong Kong’s unique strengths to support and contribute to national development.” 

Mrs Lau expressed her gratitude to Mr Leung for his sharing. She noted that the lectures on the “Two Sessions” helped inspire colleagues to reflect on the country’s latest development strategies, especially on how Hong Kong can better leverage its strengths to align with the national priorities in areas such as pension finance, the silver economy, and exchanges on retirement protection systems among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. MPFA colleagues will implement its five-year plan formulated this year, and give full play to their strengths in their respective roles, thereby contributing to the high-quality development of both the country and Hong Kong.
