eMPF™ Now Fully Operational — The Future is in Your Hands

The eMPF Platform (eMPF) successfully onboarded all MPF schemes end of last month. To publicize eMPF, the eMPF Platform Company (eMPF Company) launched a two-day eMPF Carnival starting today (9 May) at a shopping mall in Diamond Hill, featuring interactive games, information booths, and sharing and performance by popular singers and artistes. Titled “The Future is in Your Hands”, the eMPF Carnival aims to promote among MPF scheme members their registration with and use of eMPF, a one-stop electronic platform for managing MPF to help shape their future.

The Guest of Honour, Financial Secretary Mr Paul Chan, together with MPFA and eMPF Company Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau, officiated at the launch ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Financial Secretary Mr Paul Chan said that in the 2017-18 Budget, the Government proposed the development of eMPF, adopting a “less is more” approach- streamlining procedures, reducing time and fees, enhancing transparency of MPF schemes, and improving efficiency. After years of preparation and planning, eMPF has reached a milestone: all 24 MPF schemes offered by 12 trustees, covering over 10 million MPF accounts, have now onboarded to eMPF. Members of the public can now conveniently manage their MPF accounts through eMPF. He also encouraged the MPFA to continue its efforts, actively promote innovation within the industry, and provide more investment choices for scheme members.

MPFA and eMPF Company Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau said, “as the MPF System marks its 25th anniversary, it has fulfilled its mission of helping the workforce accumulate basic retirement savings, realizing the vision of ‘MPF for a better future’. As the most significant reform in the past 25 years, eMPF is now fully operational following the successful onboarding of all MPF schemes, ushering in a new digital era for MPF. I encourage all employers and scheme members to register with eMPF, empowering them to manage their MPF digitally, anytime and anywhere.”

The event features a digital mosaic wall where photos taken and uploaded by participants are pieced together to form an illustration created specifically for the event by a local artist. A photo of Mr Chan and Mrs Lau was integrated in the vibrant and colourful illustration, symbolizing the full operation of eMPF and the commencement of a new chapter for MPF.

In addition to interactive game booths, the eMPF Carnival features celebrity guests who encourage eMPF registration through sharing sessions and interacting with the audience. Furthermore, the eMPF Company has an on-site registration counter to help the public with eMPF registration and answer enquiries. The event also features a milestone exhibition celebrating the 25th anniversary of the MPF System, alongside information booths set up by MPF trustees distributing souvenirs and providing information on various MPF schemes.
