MPFA alerts public about phishing emails

MPFA has recently identified phishing emails (see screenshots below) originating from a fraudulent email address: “emf[.]sungwa-jobskop[.]com@shared1[.]ccsend[.]com”. These emails falsely claim to be issued by the eMPFTM Platform (eMPF). The emails claim to “offer refunds of administration fees” to lure recipients to click a hyperlink that leads to a fraudulent website (https[:]//jobskop[.]com/HK EMP/), with the intention of deceiving the public into providing their personal information. eMPF Platform Company Limited (eMPF Company) has reported this to the Police and urges the public to be vigilant by not clicking any hyperlinks from unknown sources or disclosing any personal information.

An MPFA spokesperson said that neither MPFA nor eMPF Company has any connection with the fraudulent email or website. The spokesperson reminded the public that upon receiving any emails or SMS messages claiming to be from either MPFA or eMPF Company, they should carefully verify details such as the email addresses, SMS sender information and website domain names to ascertain their authenticity. The official email domain of MPFA is “@mpfa.org.hk”, and the official domains of eMPF Company are “@empf.org.hk”, “@support.empf.org.hk” and “@osc.empf.org.hk”. If members of the public receive emails claiming to be from either MPFA or eMPF Company that are not sent from any of the above official email domains, or have doubts about the emails or SMS messages, they should refrain from clicking any hyperlinks in the email or providing any eMPF account or personal information.

Members of the public can manage their accounts and personal information through the official eMPF website at https://www.empf.org.hk, or the eMPF mobile application downloaded from official app stores, i.e. Apple App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery, or from the APK file at the official eMPF website.

If MPF scheme members or eMPF users receive suspicious calls, SMS messages or emails, or have doubts about the authenticity of websites similar to that of MPFA or eMPF, please contact MPFA (tel: 2918 0102 / email: mpfa@mpfa.org.hk) or eMPF Company (tel: 183 2622 / email: enquiry@support.empf.org.hk) to verify their authenticity, or report them to the Police immediately.
