MPFA Chairman exchanges with the Business and Professionals Federation of Hong Kong (3 March 2022)

MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau met with the representatives of the Business and Professionals Federation of Hong Kong (BPF) yesterday (3 Mar), to listen to their views on various aspects of the MPF System.

It was agreed that grassroots scheme members were the sector whose retirement needs warranted the most attention. They are also the cohort which lacks the investment knowledge and therefore Default Investment Strategy (DIS) could be the most appropriate choice for them. Since its inception in 2017, the performance of the two constituent funds under DIS has been outstanding. DIS was tailor-made for those who are in lack of time or investment expertise to manage their MPF.

Mrs Lau also shared the progress of the eMPF Platform project which was the most important reform initiative ever introduced by the MPFA, therefore it was MPFA’s top priority to ensure the project is being developed on schedule. She thanked the BPF for its valuable suggestions on various fronts to improve the MPF System for the retirement protection of the working population of Hong Kong, in particular the grassroots scheme members.
