MPFA takes proactive actions to recover default contributions for affected employees (27 Sep 2022)

The MPFA is very concerned about the closure of catering businesses and whether employers have defaulted on MPF contributions. Upon learning of the closure of a restaurant in Tseung Kwan O, MPFA took proactive and swift action to meet with the employer of the restaurant and employees concerned through the Eating Establishment Employees General Union (EEEGU) yesterday (September 27) to understand the situation and provided assistance to employees.

The Member Protection and Services Division of the MPFA, responsible for handling complaints from the public, takes charge of handling suspected non-compliance proactively and is committed to recovering outstanding MPF contributions for affected scheme members.

If there are any affected employees whom we could not reach through the meeting yesterday and are in need of assistance, they should contact the MPFA immediately via the hotline 2918 0102 or email (mpfa@mpfa.org.hk).

The MPFA calls on all employees to check their MPF accounts regularly and contact their trustees immediately if they suspect or discover any irregularities in the contributions.
