MPFA Chairman listens to views of lawmakers of the New People’s Party (13 March 2023)

 

MPFA Chairman Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau and Managing Director Mr Cheng Yan-chee met with Legislative Council members via an online meeting today (13 March), sharing the primary work foci of the MPFA this year and the latest progress of the eMPF Platform Project as well as reviewing the investment performance of the MPF System in 2022. The views expressed by the legislators on various aspects of the MPF System were well noted.

 

 

 

  

 

Mrs Lau met with Hon Mrs Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee, Hon Lai Tung-kwok and Hon Yung Hoi-yan of the New People’s Party (NPP). At the meeting, Mr Cheng highlighted MPFA’s efforts in protecting scheme members’ interests and enhancing MPF investment framework. MPFA will also collaborate with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority in facilitating MPF to invest in Government green bonds and infrastructure bonds and to study the provision of MPF funds that offer stable returns at low fees as introduced in the recent Budget Speech.

 

 

 

    

 

Mrs Lau thanked the Members for their invaluable views and suggestions. She reiterated that the Authority would step up monitoring the progress and quality of the eMPF Platform project, and to ensure the Government’s initiatives to abolishing the offsetting mechanism and making contributions for low income earners in 2025 will not be affected.
