MPFA promotes MPF to airport workers (23 May 2025)

MPFA Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Wallace Lau attended a seminar organized by the Staffs and Workers Union of Hong Kong Civil Airlines in collaboration with the Airport Authority Hong Kong last Friday (23 May). He introduced the latest developments of the MPF System to approximately 100 airport workers and union representatives, and listened to their views on the MPF and retirement protection. The eMPF outreach team also introduced the eMPF and assisted workers with registration during the event.

Lau highlighted that 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the MPF’s implementation and that several significant reforms have been or will be introduced. These include the abolition of MPF offsetting arrangement effective from 1 May, mapping out the implementation details and conducting the public consultations for “full portability” of MPF benefits, and the onboarding of all MPF trustees to the eMPF by the end of this year. MPFA will continue to uphold the principle of putting scheme members’ interests first in actively introducing various reforms with the aim of further enhancing the MPF System.

The Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions (FTU) LegCo Member Hon Bill Tang also attended the event. Additionally, the Labour Department representative explained the detailed arrangements for the abolition of MPF offsetting to the participants.
