MPFA shares the latest developments of ETFs in the investment of MPF Funds with the fund management industry (22 June 2026)
MPFA Executive Director (Policy) Eric Cheng participated in a panel discussion at the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association (HKIFA) Annual Conference yesterday, where he shared the latest developments and applications of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the investment of MPF funds with around 400 participants from the fund management industry and financial institutions.

Cheng highlighted that, in response to market development, MPFA had updated its investment guidelines in the first quarter this year to include active ETFs satisfying certain conditions as a permissible asset class for MPF funds. MPFA will continue to keep abreast of market dynamics, maintain dialogue with the industry and facilitate investment by MPF funds in diversified asset classes under the premise of balancing investment flexibility and risks, with a view to advancing scheme members’ interests.
