MPFA shares the latest MPF developments and future directions with the retirement industry and stakeholders (17 September 2026)
MPFA Director (Policy and Regulation) Kent Yau attended a retirement industry conference on 17 Sep, where he shared with industry representatives and stakeholders regarding the latest developments of the MPF System and outlined future directions and reform initiatives to further strengthen the System.

Yau stated that MPF has become a vital pillar in meeting the basic retirement needs of the Hong Kong working population, and MPFA has also been committed to enhancing values for scheme members by actively introduced various reform measures. These include: launching the eMPF™ Platform to drive fee reductions and offer scheme members the convenience to manage their MPF accounts through a one-stop platform; introducing the Default Investment Strategy (DIS) to provide a ready-made investment solution for scheme members who lack the time or expertise to invest; and requiring MPF trustees to conduct “value-for-money” assessments of their MPF schemes and disclosing the relevant results and follow-up actions, thereby helping scheme members compare and make MPF investment choices that suit their needs. Looking ahead, MPFA will continue to collaborate closely with the industry and stakeholders to foster innovation and provide better retirement protection for the Hong Kong working population.
