MPFA welcomes Government's appointment of Board Chairman and Members

The MPFA welcomes the Government’s appointment of Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau as its Chairman for two years with effect from 17 March 2021.

The MPFA is confident that under the leadership of Mrs Lau, who has been serving in the MPFA as a non-executive director (NED) since 2017, it will continue to stay committed to its duties and rise to the challenges ahead, while striving for further enhancement of the MPF System, by taking forward important reform measures such as the development of the eMPF Platform, with a view to creating greater system efficiency and cost effectiveness.

Mrs Lau said, “I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) for the appointment which is an important mission, and giving me the opportunity to serve the community of Hong Kong.  I look forward to working together with the Government, the MPFA and all stakeholders to continuously improve the MPF System, including the development of the eMPF Platform project which will allow scheme members to proactively manage their MPF and better plan for retirement.”

She continued, “This year is the 20th Anniversary of the MPF System which marks the midway point of the maturity of a retirement protection system. We will stand fast at our post and committed to our mission while moving forward. I would like to express my gratitude to the outgoing Chairman Dr David Wong for his contributions to the MPF System. He took forward a number of important measures to enhance the MPF System during his tenure.”

Mrs Lau added that she will be retiring from KPMG in September 2021 in order to devote more time to her role as MPFA Chairman.

The MPFA also welcomes the Government’s appointment of Mr Jimmy Ng Wing-ka and Mr Bill Tang Ka-piu as well as re-appointment of Mr Chan Kam-lam, Dr Bankee Kwan Pak-hoo, Mr Lam Chun-sing and Professor Simon Wong Kit-lung as its NEDs. The MPFA thanks its outgoing NEDs Mr Abraham Shek and Mr Kingsley Wong for their invaluable contributions to the development of the MPF System.
