Guide to Registration as MPF Intermediaries

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) has issued a Guide to Registration as MPF Intermediaries ("Guide") and the application forms for registration ("Forms").

The Guide is to inform potential applicants of the requirements and procedures relating to registration. Individual applicants who meet the registration requirements will be issued with MPF intermediaries cards for the purpose of selling/advising on MPF schemes.

"Applications can now be sent to the MPFA. Applicants who send their applications before end of November this year will be issued with MPF intermediaries cards by mid-January 2000," a MPFA spokesman said today (Friday).

"Due to the large number of potential MPF intermediaries, applicants are requested to co-operate with the MPFA by submitting their applications as early as possible. For large companies with a sizeable number of agents/employees, they should submit their applications in batches to ensure a smooth processing of the applications," he said.

The Guide and the Forms have also been distributed to the Hong Kong Association of Banks, the Hong Kong Confederation of Insurance Brokers, the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers, the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association, the Professional Insurance Brokers Association Limited and the Hong Kong Trustees' Association Limited.

Corporations are encouraged to obtain the Guide from their own associations and inform their agents/employees of the application procedures. Hard copies of the Forms may be obtained from the office of the MPFA at 21/F, One International Finance Centre, 1 Harbour View Street, Central, Hong Kong or downloaded from the website of the MPFA.
