Transfer Procedure and Limit on Frequency
Scheme members may submit the transfer instructions via the eMPF™ Platform (eMPF). For scheme members who have yet to register with eMPF, they can register as early as possible.
The MPF derived from employer mandatory contributions# and / or employee mandatory contributions can be transferred in its entire amount once a calendar year. Transfer of the MPF derived from employer mandatory contributions# and employee mandatory contributions can be made together to the same MPF scheme. Transfers of the MPF derived from employer mandatory contributions# and the MPF derived from employee mandatory contributions can also be made separately to two different MPF schemes.
The MPF derived from contributions made under former employments and held in the contribution account can be transferred to an MPF scheme of the employee’s choice in its entire amount anytime.
Important notes
- MPF derived from employer mandatory contributions# and / or employee mandatory contributions must be transferred to a personal account held by the employee, and the choice of the MPF scheme rests with the employee.
- If an employee does not have a personal account, the employee has to open a personal account in an MPF scheme first via eMPF Web Portal or eMPF Mobile App or by submitting a membership enrolment form. Transfer request can only be initiated after successful opening of the personal account in the MPF scheme.
- An employer will continue to make contributions (both the employer and the employee portions) to the MPF scheme participated by the employer, instead of the employee’s newly chosen MPF scheme, even after the employee has transferred the MPF from the contribution account.
- Employers are not required to be involved in the process of making the transfer.
# Applicable to employees who entered the job market or changed employment on or after 1 May 2025.
