Offsetting (Severance and Long Service Payments)

An employer can offset severance and long service payments (as required under the Employment Ordinance) from a member's vested benefits that are attributable to the employer's contributions made to an ORSO scheme. Employers can apply to the administrator of the scheme for reimbursement of this amount after paying the member.

Please note that in offsetting severance payments and long service payments, employers still need to follow other requirements as set out in the Employment Ordinance (Chapter 57, Laws of Hong Kong) concerning such payments.
